Vickie Damico, Advocate on Aging
The New Face of Aging: Women continue to live longer than men by at least five years, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our longevity now presents us with the “Great Wealth Transfer.” We stand to inherit wealth from both our parents and our spouses. In fact, it’s estimated that by 2030, women in the United States will control $34 trillion in financial assets. By 2043, women are expected to control more than half of the wealth in the United States and globally. What does this mean for us – women living in southwest Virginia? What steps do we need to take to thrive in our older age? How do we embrace our new voice and this new power to become the new face of aging?
